Today is music legend Taylor Swift's 35th birthday!
If you only know Taylor Swift as a 14-time Grammy-winning music superstar behind hits like "Shake It Off" and "You Belong With Me," you'd be right. But that sure ain't the whole picture.
Whether you're a fan of Taylor Swift or not, it's hard to deny the cultural and financial juggernaut the pop superstar has become. Her album "The Tortured Poets Department," released in April, captivated fans and critics alike, showcasing her evolution as an artist. Last year, "1989 (Taylor's Version)" debuted at No. 1, giving Swift the magical 13th No. 1 album, and further cementing her legacy.
Her extended Eras Tour broke attendance records globally, with sold-out stadiums in Austrailia, Asia, and Europe, and it was projected to inject billions into local economies. The accompanying concert film became one of the highest-grossing music documentaries ever, offering fans a cinematic experience of her iconic performances.
Throughout her massively successful career, Swift has often used her enormous platform for good.
Swift's influence extended beyond music as she used her platform to promote voter engagement in the U.S. election after her endorsement of Kamala Harris. Swift has donated millions of dollars to various charities and causes, including the American Red Cross, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the New York City Department of Education. She has also used her platform to raise awareness of important issues, such as LGBTQ+ rights and women's empowerment.
During her stops on The Eras Tour, she gifted generous donations to the local food pantries of the cities she visited. She also made headlines by giving each of her truck drivers a $100,000 bonus check!
Taylor Swift has dominated the music industry since 2006 with her self-titled debut album, continuing to redefine the game through her re-recorded albums Fearless (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version), Speak Now (Taylor's Version), and 1989 (Taylor's Version). Now, with The Tortured Poets Department, she proves that her creative brilliance knows no bounds.
